Your sick day entitlement is about to increase with the government passing the Holidays Amendment Bill.
From the 24th of July 2021 most employees who have worked for an employer for six or more months will be entitled to 10 days of sick leave, and increase from five days. As an employee you will get the additional five days when you reach your next entitlement date. Depending on your employment situation this will either be after reaching your first six months of employment or on your sick leave entitlement anniversary which is normally 12 months after you were last entitled to sick leave.
If you already receive 10 or more days sick leave entitlement then these changes will not affect you.
The maximum amount of unused sick leave that an employee can be entitled to remains at 20 days.
