minimum employee rights
Whether you work full-time, part-time, on a casual basis or as a contractor in Aotearoa New Zealand you have a legal entitlement to some basic minimum employee rights. Your employer can not reduce these rights or ask you to sign them away. They are yours and they belong to you. So it’s important that you know what they are and understand how they are applied, how they affect your working life and requirements there are if any in order for you to be able to qualify.
Employers can face heavy fines if they knowingly or unknowingly deny you your minimum rights as an employee. Therefore it’s also important that all employers are well aware of what your rights are to ensure that they are following the letter of the law when it comes to their employees.
Coromandel Workers Council can provide further information to you on any of your minimum employee rights. If you’re still unsure if your employer is providing you with all of your entitlements, get in touch with us as soon as possible to ensure that you do not miss out.
